I’ve had this domain sitting around for a while, attached to a dormant site…
Today, while on Facebook, I saw a link to a recent blog post by Brian McLaren talking about people writing to him looking for church communities that “are moving along the lines” described in his books.
I’ve wondered the same thing myself (although not necessarily confined to the thoughts and writings of Brian McLaren)…
It seems that there are so many churches out there, but when you get right down to it, and start looking at their statement of beliefs, there really isn’t that much difference from one denomination to another.
That being the case, what is a person to do who, in their attempts to understand the way of Jesus, and in their personal life, is having a hard time agreeing with those basic (foundational) statements of belief? Most churches aren’t really open to that kind of thinking!
What I long for is a community of people who have a desire to follow Jesus – but aren’t afraid to question, talk about, and re-consider just about everything else in Christianity.
So – if anybody is part of a community that fits this description, or is looking to start something, maybe we could help people connect via this site.
